THE mum of Scottish supermodel Amanda Hendrick told last night how she cried after her daughter was slammed over her thin figure.Karen Mc Comb insisted her daughter is not anorexic – and loved nothing more than a plate of mince and tatties when she was growing up.
But last night, Karen, from Coatbridge, Lanarkshire, told how her daughter loved food and enjoyed nothing more than a bowl of pasta.
She also told how the family were devastated at thecriticism of Amanda. When she was growing up her favourite was mince and potatoes.
She also had a thing for plain bread – she would go through five slices with her mince.
“Another big favourite was her granny’s homemade soup, she liked mine but loved her gran’s.
When Amanda would eat, I would just watch in amazement and think she had hollow legs.
“She’s always been naturally very slim and could eat for Scotland without putting on a pound.“She was just like any other child so, yes, she’d eat sweets but not to excess. We’d also eat as a family and I’d always cook, except maybe on a Friday night when we’d buy in a video and have a Mc Donald’s or a Chinese meal.” She added: “Amanda’s always been slim and I’m pleased for her as she doesn’t need to put her body under any strain.“In fact, if people realised the schedule my daughter has, they would know that she couldn’t work the way she does if she didn’t look after herself.“Believe me, if I thought Amanda was being unhealthy in terms of food or lack of sleep, I’d be the first to raise it.But you only need to see her bright eyes and gorgeous skin to realise she’s more than healthy, she’s glowing and happy.” Karen said she was “shocked and devastated” when she heard what people were saying about her daughter.
